Maritime Volunteer Service
We meet every week to train in nautical skills on the water onboard our vessels. Whilst at the unit, members train in other essential skills such as navigation, passage planning, communication, engineering and more. These maritime skills are then put into practice by providing safety and marshal boats at various local events such as:
- Round the Island Race
- Solent Swims
- Fireworks Displays
- Cadet Training
We form a corps of civil resilience volunteers ready to assist the emergency services and local authorities in times of need.
We also have a strong social side. Once training and other activities are over we often convene to The Ship & Castle and we have social occasions throughout the year such as Summer BBQ’s, Fireworks & Chilli Night, Foundation Social, Pickle Night, Working Parties, Christmas Dinner, HMS Victory events, Dinners and more.
